A few pointers on what's to come:
1) Big Sur weather is just like San Francisco -- hard to predict! October offers the best weather of the year, which means highs around 70, lows in the 50s. Unlike Illinois, the temperature always drops when the sun goes down. On the wedding day, we'll be outside from 3-7 and indoors from 7-on. Bring a shawl or jacket. If you're like me, it's impossible to be too warm.
2) Once you're down in Big Sur, throw your keys on the dresser. Transportation is on hand to tote you to and fro' the Saturday evening party (at the house)
...and again Sunday afternoon (to the ceremony site, to the dinner/reception site and on back to your beds).
3) There is NO cell phone reception in Big Sur. I know 3/4 of you just cringed. In truth, there's spotty reception but finding it is very hard -- assume that once you're 15 minutes south of Carmel your phone is kaput. Just turn off your blackberry-iphone and tune into the birds.
